Day 33: Addison, Pennsylvania

After our morning coffee, we loaded Sprocket up in the Subaru and all took a drive to Ohiopyle State Park to check out the falls. After going to the initial viewpoint, we walked up to the footbridge then down along the river to a nice little backwater below the falls. It took Sprocket no time at all to be in that water! After he played fetch for a bit, we hiked back through town. On our way back to the lake we had lunch at the Lucky Dog Cafe. Sprocket met Tigger the great dane, a big old Labrador, and two ornery Chihuahuas. The humans enjoyed some fabulous food while Sprocket slept on my feet.

Back at Kim and Larry’s, we loaded up their boat and took it down to the launch. F and Larry took the trailer back to the house and Kim and I met them at their boat club dock. The four of us spent a relaxing afternoon touring the lake and enjoying the sunshine. We called it quits at about five and headed back to the house to change before heading for Pittsburgh. For dinner we had classic Primanti Brothers sandwiches: Italian bread, fries, cole slaw, and meat (I wasn’t crazy about having slaw on my sandwich though). We drove up Mt. Washington to get a good view of downtown Pittsburgh: from there we could see all of downtown, the Pirates and Steelers stadiums, and the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers coming together into the Ohio River. Our next stop was a bar in South Park where we listened to “Regular Joes” (a duo half comprised of Larry and Kim’s friend Freddy). By the time we drove all the way back to the house Forrest and I were both asleep in the back seat.
